Midwives in South Africa are the front line caregivers and back bone in maternal and child health care. The pressure is on midwives to meet the challenges of providing quality care to both women and children. It is imperative for midwives to continuously improve their clinical skills whilst simultaneously continue to maintain, reinforce and maximize their focus on interpersonal care. We must all assume the commitment to be active players in all aspects of our profession in order to contribute to the development of midwifery.

We are delighted with the news that the 10th Annual Congress of Midwives of South Africa will be taking place in our Province from the 4th to the 7th December 2012.
We extend a warm welcome to all delegates to Gauteng the City of Gold. We are indeed pleased once more that Gauteng Province will become a meeting place for the National and African Midwives. We will be able to interact and deliberate on matters that will bring about enrichment in our career.
